Fuel Filter Flange






Fuel Filter Flange

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Suction Pump (VAS 5226)

Angled Screwdriver (VAS 6543)

Removing


Do not remove the fuel hoses from the fuel filter flange and do NOT pry on the connection. Prying or pulling can cause leaks and damage on the fuel filter upper section.

Be careful not to let any diesel fuel get on any other components inside the engine compartment. Wipe if off immediately if necessary.

Remove the engine cover.

- Remove all of the fuel filter flange bolts - arrows -, and then remove the fuel filter flange.






If the fuel filter flange is stuck, loosen it as follows:






It is possible to lift off the fuel filter flange by the groove - arrow A - using the angled screwdriver (VAS 6543).

The groove may have a different size, depending on the version of the flange.

- Insert the angled screwdriver (VAS 6543) into the groove - arrow A - and turn the angled screwdriver (VAS 6543).

The fuel filter flange will lift off.






- Remove the old seal - 2 - from the fuel filter flange - 1 - by prying it out of the groove - arrow -.






Installing

- Coat the new seal - 1 - with diesel fuel and install it in the fuel filter flange - arrows -.






- Mount the fuel filter flange and seal on the fuel filter housing and then press on it evenly.


Do NOT tighten the bolts on the flange until it is in complete contact with the housing.

- Tighten all the bolts for the flange hand tight.






- Then, tighten the bolts to specification and in the sequence shown in the illustration - arrows -, see - item 2 - in the => [ Fuel Filter Overview ] Fuel Filter Overview for the specification.
